THE
DRAGON
By Yevgeny Schwartz
In a new adaptation by Daniel Goldman and Company
When Lancelot arrives at Elsa’s door, falls hopelessly in true love and discovers she’s to be sacrificed the next day, he challenges the town’s Dragon to a fight to the death. What he’s not expecting is that the townspeople will do anything and everything to stay in chains.
This Xmas we are back at Southwark Playhouse with a brand new take on this brilliantly funny 1943 critique of Stalinism and our not-so-secret desire to let others do our thinking for us.
Come on down and discover an inconceivably funny Russian fairy tale for grown ups, performed by a brilliant ensemble of ten proper actors and no celebs!

Reviews
It’s truly enlivening when theatre sets itself an ambitious challenge and rises to it with panache… Audacious work, delivered with aplomb.
★★★★ Time Out London Critics Choice
Tangram again show themselves to be fantastic story
tellers. ★★★★ What’s On Stage
Has theatre ever been so much fun?! It’s fun, energetic, dynamic, gripping and dark. Theatre at it’s best. ★★★★★ Everything Theatre
“This one has to be seen to be believed… marvelously entertaining.” British Theatre Guide
Daniel Goldman’s young company has a decidedly cocky approach to making theatre… (this) boldly conceived production has wit as well as heart.
Evening Standard
“Masterfully switches from witty repartee to moments of unbearable tension and violence.”
